Advent 3 in the Deanery

Possibly the busiest weekend in Advent! Lots of events and services to choose from happening in our parishes, and you’d be welcome to attend any of them. Please check the individual parish website just in case I’ve missed anything.

Christingles:

Sunday 15th December, 5.00 pm Christingle in Chop Gate Village Hall with Bilsdale Silver Band, followed by refreshments.

Special services:

Thursday 12th December, 7.00 pm ‘Blue Service’ for Christmas: A quiet reflective service for those who may find this Christmas particularly difficult. St. Peter and St. Paul, Stokesley.

Sunday 15th December, 11.00 am ‘All Age’ Christmas service at St. Oswald’s, Newton-under-Roseberry.

Sunday 15th December, 6.00 pm Taize for Advent Service, Christ Church, Great Ayton. A chance to be still during the hectic build up to Christmas.

Sunday 15th December, 6.00 pm, ‘Blue Christmas’ at St. Francis, Ingleby Barwick. A service of peace and hope for those who find the Christmas period a challenge.

Angels Among Us 

A Deanery gathering with Bishop Barry, on Monday, 9th December 7.00 for 7.30 pm at St. Francis of Assisi, Ingelby Barwick. A chance for all members of Stokesley Deanery parishes to meet the new Bishop of Whitby.  Questions for the Bishop to be sent to the Deanery e-mail before 1 pm on Thursday 5th December, please.

The beginning of Advent

As Advent begins there are lots of events around Stokesley Deanery. In addition to each parish’s usual pattern of worship here are some of the services and events you might like to attend this weekend:

Angel Festival at Stainton

Peter and St. Paul’s Church, Stainton is holding their Angel Festival on Friday, 29th November, 3.30-6.00 pm, Saturday 30th November 2.00-4.30 pm and Sunday 1st December 3.00-4.00, to be followed by a Carol Service at 4.00 pm. All are welcome to come and see the Christmas Angels, add a name to the Memory Tree and there will be activities for children.
