Early October in the Deanery

As we move further into the Autumn, there is lots of news to share.

First of all, we would like to share the prayer for the new Archbishop of Canterbury, Rt. Revd. Sarah Mullally, whose appointment has been announced today.

And we also have a new appointment in our Deanery – Tuesday sees the induction of the Revd. Sarah Cliff as Vicar of Great Ayton. Welcome to her, and to her family. Her induction service takes place on Tuesday, 7th October at 7 pm in Christ Church, Great Ayton. All are welcome to attend.

We have several Harvest Festivals taking place this Sunday.

On Sunday 5th October 3pm at St Hilda’s Chop Gate, Harvest will be celebrated with Bilsdale Silver Band and refreshments afterwards. All welcome!

Stokesley Parish Church is celebrating Harvest this weekend with children’s craft activities in the church on Saturday 4th October, 9.30-11.30. Their Family Harvest Festival then takes place on Sunday 5th October at 10.00 am.

Stainton are holding their Harvest Festival at Cafe Church at 11.00 am on Sunday 5th October.

St. Mary Magdalene, Yarm, are also holding their Harvest Festival on Sunday 5th October at 10.30 am.

And finally, Nunthorpe is welcoming furry and feathered friends to their annual Pet Service on Sunday 5th October, 9.30 am in St. Mary’s Church Hall.

September approaches

A few events that are happening in the Deanery in early September include:

Taize Style Evening Prayer on Sunday, September 7th at 6:00 pm in All Saints’ Church Great Ayton. 

Our Deanery Environment Service takes place on Sunday, 14th September at Kirkleatham Church. Refreshments from 3:15, service begins at 4:00 pm.

Harvest in a Barn on Sunday, September 21st at 10 am at Dromonby Farm, TS9 7AP, service followed by refreshments. Come and celebrate harvest on a working farm. All welcome. 

A service in thanksgiving for the 200th anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway will take place on Saturday 27th September at 7:00 pm at Yarm Parish Church.

Bank Holiday weekend

If you are looking for a nice bank holiday treat, why not head over to Ingleby Greenhow or Chop Gate?

Hymns and Pimms at St. Andrew’s Ingleby Greenhow on Sunday August 24th at 5 pm. A short service of Evensong followed by refreshments, including Pimms. All welcome. 

Cream Teas (with other stalls) at Chop Gate Village Hall, Sunday 24th August 1pm – 5pm. All proceeds to St. Hilda’s Church.
