There will be a Pilgrim Walk from St. Oswald’s , Newton under Roseberry to St. Cuthbert’s, Kildale. They are both Pilgrim places. The walk will take place on Saturday August 8th, leaving St. Oswald’s at 9.30 and hopefully arriving at St. Cuthbert’s between 12noon and half past. St. Cuthbert’s has a monthly cafe which will be open for walkers to share a snack/lunch together. The walk is around 8km. Anyone wishing to join the walk is very welcome. 1-3 pm, Strawberry Tea in aid of Thornaby Food Bank, St. Francis of Assisi Church Ingleby Barwick. No charge but please bring a donation for the food bank.

Family Church at 4 begins at Brookfield , as the name would suggest, at 4 pm!

Great Ayton, All Saints, 6 pm. Taize style evening prayer – 40 minutes of peace and  tranquility.

An Alpha Course celebration is taking place at St. Francis, Ingleby Barwick, starting at 6 pm. 

You may considering sitting in the shade and drinking cold lemonade this weekend, but it’s worth remembering that many churches are beautiful, old COOL stone buildings!

In Whorlton Benefice there is an important event this weekend. Sunday 28th June sees the Ordination to the Priesthood of Revd. Donneta Thomas by Bishop Barry. The service takes place in Swainby Church at 4 pm and everyone is welcome. Revd. Thomas will then be celebrating her first communion on Monday, 29th June at 7 pm at Rudby Church.

At Stainton, the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul are celebrating their Patronal Festival with a special communion service at 11 am on Sunday, 28th June. This will be followed by an organ recital by Bishop Paul Ferguson at 6 pm in church. Everyone is welcome.

And other events in the Deanery …

Fathers’ Day is this Sunday, 21st June, so remember to give thanks for all the dads, grandads, stepdads and people who have been like a father in your life.

Other events taking place in the Deanery this weekend include Hilton Open Gardens tomorrow, Saturday 20th June. Gardens open at 2 pm, with tickets (£10 each) available from St. Peter’s from 1.30 pm

There will be a service of Healing and Wholeness at St. Francis, Ingleby Barwick on Sunday 21st June at 6.00 pm. All welcome.

Next Friday, 26^th June,  there will be a coffee morning in Stokesley Town Hall in aid of St. Cuthbert’s, Kildale. Also another coffee morning at Yarm Church in aid of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, 9.30-12.30.

There is plenty of coffee/tea and cakes on offer this weekend!

Friday June 5^th – Sunday June 7^th 

St. Oswald’s Church, Newton under Roseberry is now part of the Pilgrim Places Network. As a consequence St. Oswald’s will now be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday beginning the weekend of Friday June 5th. 
To launch the openings and to mark World Environmental Week there will be Morning Prayers at 10am led by Rev Sarah Cliff, followed by refreshments. All are welcome. Refreshments will be available during the day as well on June 5th. If you have never visited St. Oswald’s now is your chance to come and learn more about the church and its grounds.
